Taper Apprenticeship

What Is A Taper?
A taper apprentice will be employed in the application of taping, topping and texturing with instruction in the use of automatic tool, spray texture, hand texture, hand tools, product knowledge, safety and estimating. Work will be performed on all types of buildings, both old and new.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • An applicant must be 18 years of age or 17 with signed parental consent. There is no maximum age.
  • Applicant must pass a reading test.

Benefits
The tapers program is jointly sponsored by the Painters and Tapers Trust Fund. As an employee and union member you will be afforded excellent medical, dental and optical coverage as well as vacation and pension plan benefits.

Program
The tapers apprenticeship program is a three (3) year program. It consists of 3600 hours of on-the-job training and 160 hours of related and supplemental instruction.
