Tile Finishers Apprenticeship

What Is A Tile Finisher?
Tile Finishers work together with Tile Layers to create installations of ceramic or stone tile. The Finisher fills joints and cleans and polishes finished surfaces, which my include showers, tubs, countertops, floors, stairs, building exteriors, ceilings and others. They may also perform finish caulking. The Finisher does most of the setting up of materials at the job and cleans up afterwards. They mix all mortars, by machine or by hand using a mixing hoe. Tile Finishing is very active work, and is often strenuous. It may involve scaffolding.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Applicants must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
  • Physically able to perform the work.
  • Willing and able to attend classroom training and abide by rules and regulations of the JATC.

Benefits
As a beginning Tile Finisher, you will receive medical benefits for yourself and, later, for you and your dependents, including medical, dental and vision care, and pension.

Program
Your apprenticeship will consist of 3500 hours on-the-job for five periods. After each period you are evaluated for a wage increase, provided you also have completed the required hours at the tile school.
